This Brings Me Back

Lulu Chu was wiping down the coffee table when the knock came. She wasn't expecting anyone. She cracked the door open and found Jennie Rose standing there, a stranger with a familiar face. Jennie used to live here, years ago, and wondered if she could step inside for one quick look. Lulu let her in. They moved through the rooms while Jennie talked. The staircase still creaked the same. The kitchen smelled different now. Lulu listened and laughed when something clicked with her own experience. By the time they reached the bedroom, Jennie's voice softened.
