Planning To Unwind

Charlotte asked how Maya’s day went. Just okay, she said, then turned the question back. “Work’s brutal,” Charlotte sighed. “It feels like I live at that damn office lately. I’m praying it calms down so we can finally get out of here—white sand, nowhere to be, endless fucking on the beach at sunrise.” They kept spinning fantasies: midnight swims, long meals, the lazy glow of two lovers in no hurry. Then they landed on their first date: the sticky bar, the stupid dare that left Maya tasting peach schnapps off Charlotte’s collarbone, the cab ride that never made it past Charlotte’s curb. Heat curled low in both of them. Clothes slipped away, skin met skin, and they kissed, slow and deep, then harder, again and again, until the plans and memories melted into the same urgent rhythm.
