Raylene stood at the sink with her arms full of glasses when the pain seized her. Mid-reach, her back locked. In the same week her husband had run off with someone twenty years younger, and the bills sat unopened on the counter. Keira heard the sharp breath and leaned in the doorway.
“Mom. You’re wound tighter than a guitar string. My friend runs a spa two blocks from here. Let Bailey work that knot out.”
Raylene hated giving in, but the muscle refused to let go. Fifteen minutes later she stepped into the narrow studio.
Bailey met her with a slow smile. The room smelled of warm oil. Raylene folded her clothes on the bench and lay facedown, sheet draped to her waist. The first stroke traveled up her spine, thumbs pressing deep. Raylene bit the inside of her cheek. She didn’t flinch.
Bailey worked lower, palms gliding across the curve of her ass. Oil glistened between her fingers. Raylene’s hips settled into the table, heat coiling beneath her ribs. When Bailey slipped her thumbs between Raylene’s thighs and brushed bare skin, the older woman exhaled once, long and low.
Two knuckles pushed inside. Bailey moved slowly, deliberately. Raylene’s breath shortened. Every stroke nudged something tighter than muscle. Tension streamed out in thin moans. By the time she clenched hard around Bailey’s hand, the unpaid bills, the sudden loneliness, everything sat quiet behind her eyes.
