It's A Match

Jennifer opens the door and her breath catches. Aiden stands there, young, fresh-faced, twenty-two, already stepping inside like the place belongs to her. Jennifer tries to slow her down, but Aiden moves in anyway, hands sliding over hips, mouth brushing collarbone. The older woman presses two fingers against her lips, asking the age question point-blank. When she hears twenty-two she freezes, the math running hot behind her eyes. Aiden reads the hesitation and shrugs it off, low voice promising she knows exactly what she wants. The words land. Jennifer exhales once, long and shaky, then lets the last scrap of resistance fall away. Her hand finds the back of Aiden’s neck and she pulls her closer, letting the younger woman push her against the wall and undo every button on the way down.
