Bed And Breakups

Chanel showed up alone. The owner—a petite brunette named Jane—had the guestbook open for two names. “My partner left me last month,” Chanel said. “I came anyway. I needed the distance.”
Jane nodded, left space where most people would have offered pity. Instead she poured coffee. They took long walks after that. Their fingers brushed once over a trail map; nothing dramatic, just skin against skin, quick and electric. The next morning Jane brought breakfast to the room. Channel held a cup in both hands while steam rose between them.
A rainy afternoon wiped out any plan they’d made. The carriage ride turned into a downpour, wheels hissing over slick lanes, both women soaked to the bone by the time they reached the porch. Inside, Jane tossed towels onto the counter. She peeled wet denim from Chanel’s hips; Chanel’s fingers slid under Jane’s clinging shirt and dragged it upward. Steam still clung to the windows while they undressed each other—knees brushing, breath short, nipples stiff from the chill and the quick rush of heat between them.
They dropped onto the bed still half-damp. Jane’s mouth tasted rain when she kissed the pulse at Chanel’s throat; Chanel answered by dragging blunt nails up the arch of Jane’s back. No words wasted. Just the wet press of thighs, fingers pushing past waistbands, the low grind that built fast and urgent once they found skin. The day’s cold lifted with every sliding contact, replaced by the slick heat gathering between them as the storm drummed steady against the roof.
