Tailoring To Her Needs

Lena followed her mother into Casey’s living room, shoulders tense under the weight of whatever lecture Jennifer hadn’t quite finished in the car. Casey met them in jeans and a crisp white shirt, measuring tape looped around her neck like jewelry she’d forgotten to take off.
When Jennifer pushed, Lena let herself be steered into the bedroom. She stripped fast, slipped the dress over her head, and stood still while Casey gathered soft folds of satin at her waist. Every question Casey asked was answered by Jennifer first: hemline, neckline, how much cleavage was respectable. Lena’s mouth stayed shut, her jaw set.
Casey’s eyes flicked up once, caught the flare of irritation that crossed Lena’s face, and the tape paused mid-measure. “Jen,” she said lightly, “my seam-ripper’s in the laundry room. Would you mind grabbing it?” Jennifer hesitated, then left, heels already tapping down the hall.
Alone, the room felt smaller. Casey smoothed a stray pin from Lena’s skirt, voice dropping. “Tell me what you actually want.”
Lena exhaled hard enough to rustle the fabric. The words spilled out like she’d been holding them behind her teeth: the forced date, her mother’s checklist, the feeling that every choice had already been decided. Casey listened, nodding once, then admitted she’d skipped her own prom rather than bring the girl she loved. Lena’s gaze sharpened, curious and suddenly very still.
“I never told anyone I liked girls,” Lena said. It came out quieter than she meant.
Casey offered a small smile. “Me neither, back then.”
A beat. Then another, thicker. Lena stepped closer until the satin brushed Casey’s thighs. Her mouth found Casey’s before either of them could second-guess it. The kiss was clumsy, hungry. Casey pulled back, breath catching, but Lena didn’t retreat.
“I’m taking what I want for once,” she whispered.
Casey studied her, thumb grazing the edge of Lena’s lower lip, then leaned in again. The tape measure slid from her neck and hit the floor. Hands moved beneath layers of borrowed silk. Lena arched, half-laughing when Casey warned her to stay quiet. Every soft hitch of breath felt stolen. They moved together in short, careful thrusts of hip and wrist, the threat of Jennifer’s return sharpening every touch. By the time fabric pooled at Lena’s ankles, the only sound left was the shared, deliberate hush between them.
