Role Models: Out Of Her Comfort Zone

Aiden arrives at the pool, nerves twisting, fresh from divorce and newly out. She looks over the blue water and considers leaving. Whitney catches her at the edge and asks why she booked the lesson if she won't even dip a toe. The confession comes quiet: "I feel ugly in my body." She glances down at Whitney's string bikini, the white triangles perfect against tan skin. "If I wore that, nobody would stare the way they stare at you." Whitney’s eyes move slowly over Aiden’s frame, unhurried, appreciative. "That body already turns heads. Anything you wear on it would look expensive." Aiden shakes her head, cheeks hot. She also worries the one-piece she brought looks cheap. Whitney concedes the suit is bad but insists the body underneath is the prize. She pulls a tag-still-on red two-piece from her bag and holds it out. "Try this. I keep spares. You owe yourself five minutes of feeling expensive." Behind the sliding door Aiden peels off her clothes. She catches glimpses of Whitney outside, fingers slick with lotion, working oil down long thighs. When she steps back into the light the bikini clings, bright against her pale skin. Whitney’s mouth opens, eyes gleaming like she’s been struck. "Jesus. Look at you." Aiden grins, shy, relieved. She admits it’s been months since she felt beautiful. Whitney mentions she’s also queer and that she’ll happily bring Aiden around to the women she knows. Aiden’s face softens; that was half the reason she’d signed up—new faces, new rules. She thanks Whitney for the kindness already. Then adds, soft, "I wonder what else you can show me." Whitney’s smile tilts. "Class doesn’t start for a half hour." Aiden nods, breath quick, and Whitney reaches for her wrist, guiding her down onto the warm tiles. They tangle slowly at first, skin to skin, mouths opening, hands exploring the new red swimsuit Aiden now wears like a second confidence. Laughter slips between kisses, water lapping the deck edge, legs sliding, eager to test how deep either woman is willing to go.
