The Perfect Blend

Hazel Moore wipes down a table at the café, sunlight catching the tiny espresso streaks across the counter. No customers means her mind drifts toward clocking out early. Then the bell rings and Aria Valencia breezes in, twenty minutes too soon, eyes glinting with trouble. “You’re early,” Hazel says, half-smile, half-warning. “I couldn’t help it. You look fucking adorable in that apron.” Aria steps closer, the hem brushing Hazel’s thigh. “Forget the shift. No one’s here.” Hazel darts a glance toward the empty sidewalk. “We’ll get caught.” Aria slips two fingers under the knot at Hazel’s back, loosening it. “Only if we waste time talking.” The knot falls. Their mouths meet—hungry, quick, then slower, tasting every impatient breath. Aprons drop to the tile; shirts follow, buttons popping like a scattered handful of change. Hazel lifts Aria onto the narrow marble counter, spreading warm thighs, tasting salt and vanilla skin. Aria moans, hips rolling, then slides down, pulling Hazel with her until both kneel on the short-pile rug behind the pastry case. Hazel’s fingers trace down Aria’s stomach, press inside; Aria answers by rolling them so she’s on top, knees wide over Hazel’s mouth. The espresso machine ticks quietly while they trade breathless pleas, tongues relentless. Later Aria braces against a bar stool, Hazel behind her, hands gripping the wooden seat as they find a tighter rhythm that threatens to topple everything. Every creak of furniture and distant footstep makes them pause, muscles tight, listening. They don’t stop. They keep finding new angles—on the cushioned bench by the window, on the cool steel prep table—grinding, tasting, gripping until the half-hour melts away, and danger tastes almost as sweet as each other.
