Cheerleader's Nerdy Secret

Paisley Paige smoked by the rear doors after final bell. Alexia Anders hurried across asphalt and slammed straight into her. Alexia’s backpack hit the ground, zipped open. Comics fanned out. Paisley kicked one shut with her boot and offered a shrug. “Watch it, nerd,” Alexia muttered, already crouching to shove everything back in. Paisley swallowed the insult, stepped away.
Alexia snapped the pack shut and stalked off, skirt swinging. A thin magazine stayed behind, open on asphalt like an invitation. Paisley bent, picked it up. Black ink, bare bodies, ropes. A cartoon version of a cheerleader wearing exactly Alexia’s uniform knelt in front of a smirking goth girl. The caption bubbled: Yes, Mistress.
Paisley laughed once, sharp. “Alexia! Forgot something.”
Alexia froze mid-step, turned. Saw the book. Color drained, then rushed back up her cheeks. She lunged. Paisley held it higher, flicked through pages, landing on a spread where the cheerleader had her wrists bound and her mouth open.
“It’s not mine,” Alexia hissed. “Give it.”
“Sure,” Paisley said. “I’ll ask Jess and Tyler if they recognize the art style.” She started toward the main doors. Alexia caught her wrist, nails biting.
“Fine,” she whispered. “It’s mine. Just don’t—God, don’t tell anyone.”
Paisley smiled slow, let the magazine hang at her side. “I can keep secrets. When I’m motivated.” She backed Alexia against the low cinder-block wall, breath warm on her ear. “Stay after. Play along. Maybe your secret stays safe.”
Alexia’s pulse jumped under Paisley’s fingers. The heat in the air felt exactly like a panel she’d traced in private, kneeling, waiting for the next command. She swallowed, nodded once, quick, and something tight in her chest loosened. For once the script felt right, and her body already knew the lines.
