My Mom's Out Of This World!

Arietta shoved the front door shut with her shoulder. Her eyes were red, mouth tight. Maggie came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel. "What happened, sweetheart?" Arietta slumped onto the couch. "Bathroom at school. My human skin was crawling so bad I had to peel it off for a second." She stared at the floor. "Another girl walked in right when I was nothing but blue muscle and black eyes. I got the suit back on fast, told her she was seeing things. She bought it. Barely." Maggie sat beside her, fingers tracing the back of Arietta's neck until the tension eased. "Lucky." "It was close." Arietta leaned in, lips brushing Maggie's ear. "If anyone finds out what we really are, we're finished." Maggie kissed her temple. Their bodies shifted at the same moment, slick blue limbs replacing smooth human ones. A low laugh escaped Arietta as their mouths met, tongues flicking against ridges neither disguise could hide. "These skins are murder," Maggie whispered, already working the seam at Arietta's collarbone. "But the things humans do with them…" Arietta tugged Maggie's shirt over her head, palms sliding over warm, borrowed breasts. "We need more data. For science." She grinned against Maggie's mouth. "Call it fieldwork." Clothes hit the floor. Maggie dropped to her knees, parting Arietta's thighs, licking slow circles that drew a broken moan from the younger alien. Arietta threaded fingers through her hair, hips rocking, the wet sound of Maggie's tongue filling the quiet room. "If anyone asks," Arietta panted, "we're just practicing the cover story." Maggie looked up, lips shiny. "Best assignment we've ever had."
