The call opens on Rachel and Lexi facing each other through their screens. Lexi shifts in her seat, cheeks flushed, thanking Rachel for the video. She wanted to meet first, to see if the older woman was real. Rachel meets her eyes without a flicker and tells her she is very real. As the small talk dies down, Lexi leans closer, tasting the edge of the conversation, asking what Rachel likes in bed. Rachel smiles, slow and sure, and says men bore her. They pay the bills but never get her wet. She keeps one now only for the credit cards in his wallet. He has a daughter she refuses to meet. The word daughter hangs in the silence until Lexi’s voice changes. She says she already knows about that daughter because she is the daughter. Lexi’s stare hardens. The call keeps running. The game has only just started.
