Alison paces the living room like a caged animal. The front door opens. Connie steps inside. "Hi… Mom," Alison says. After dinner they move to Connie's bedroom. Alison perches on the edge of the bed, fingers knotting together. "I've been having these thoughts lately," she admits. "About you." Connie's face freezes. Alison's palm finds her stepmother's knee. Connie pulls the hand away at once. Alison tries again, this time sliding past protest. Her fingers glide between Connie's thighs. Heat meets her touch. Connie's breath shudders out.
