A Part Of Her World

The scene opens with Krista fixing her lipstick for an interview when Kim walks in. Krista launches into a laundry list of disappointments—missed calls, bad traffic, forms that got lost in the mail. Kim listens with practiced sympathy, a small, satisfied smile quickly hidden.
Krista brightens. Not everything’s bad, she says, and gushes about Rose, a woman she connected with online. Tonight’s the first time they’ll meet face-to-face. The moment Krista steps out of the room, Kim grabs the phone, rewrites the meeting time, erases the evidence, and sets the device exactly where she found it.
Next day, steam coats the bathroom mirror. Kim steps from the shower, towel snug, hair heavy with water. She studies her reflection, snips length from her bangs, slips colored lenses over her eyes, perfecting every detail until the mirror shows Krista’s exact double. She smiles like someone holding a secret too good to keep.
Kim—now Krista—finds Rose at the café. Hours later they stumble back into the apartment, coats half off, laughter thick. They drop onto the couch and kiss hard, hands restless. Rose hesitates, breath quick, but Krista whispers doubt in the shell of her ear: “You want this, don’t you? Or is first-date nerves keeping you away from what feels good?” Rose shivers, hesitates, then surrenders as Krista presses the advantage—teeth grazing the underside of Rose’s jaw, fingers tugging at buttons until skin meets skin, Rose arching to meet her.
Krista takes every inch she can claim, tasting Rose, coaxing the moans she needs to fill the room, a strategic game wearing the face of a sister. Nothing, she decides, will keep her from stepping fully inside the life she’s stolen.
