The intern and her boss were packing boxes when their hands kept meeting. Every time Haley bent to lift a stack of files, Kenzie caught the hem of her skirt rising along her thigh. Every time Kenzie reached high for a folder, the line of her back showed itself against the thin blouse. Their elbows brushed. Their hips aligned for a half-second too long. They said nothing, but the room felt smaller. Sweat gathered at Kenzie’s collar. She shrugged out of her blazer. Underneath, her sleeveless silk top clung in all the right places. Haley stared, lips parted, then kept packing. “I think we should stop pretending,” Haley said, voice low. “I want you.” Kenzie froze, one hand still on a carton lid. “We can’t. If the firm finds out, they’ll decide you slept your way up. Your reputation—” “I’m the daughter of a senior partner. They already think I get favors. One more rumor won’t change anything.” “You’re too young to know what you actually want.” Haley stepped close enough that the vanilla-sweet warmth of her skin mixed with Kenzie’s faint spice. “Then show me it isn’t real. Kiss me. Once.” Kenzie exhaled, defeated, and took Haley’s mouth. The first touch was careful, almost reluctant, but it didn’t stay that way. Tongues met, breaths shortened. Haley's palms found the slick fabric over Kenzie’s ribs and stayed there. Kenzie cupped the back of the girl’s neck, fingers sliding into soft hair. The kiss deepened, grew wetter, hungrier. Haley pressed forward; Kenzie’s thigh slid between hers. When they finally broke for air, Kenzie’s thumb still traced Haley’s lower lip. “This is reckless,” she whispered. “I don’t care.” They didn’t speak again. Blouses hit the floor. Bras followed. Skirts were shoved to ankles, shoes kicked aside. Skin met skin—cool air, then hot breath. Haley’s mouth on the rise of Kenzie’s breast; Kenzie’s fingers sliding between the girl’s legs until she gasped and rocked. They sank together onto the half-empty desk, mouths roaming, hands stroking, legs opening.
