Maid Up For Lost Time

Texas Patti stood on the doorstep, supplies in hand, expecting a stranger. Instead the door opened and she found Elexis Monroe—her college lover, now hidden behind a husband’s last name. The shock hit like a slap. They stared, breath caught, until Elexis broke the spell and stepped aside.
They caught up in the living room while dust motes floated in the afternoon light. Texas spoke of carpools and dirty laundry; Elexis answered with book-club gossip and trust-fund chatter. Texas shifted on the couch, painfully aware of the contrast, until Elexis offered to swap her out for another cleaner. “No,” Texas said quickly. “It’d look bad on my sheet.”
So the work began. Texas sprayed mirrors, Elexis hovered—useless, anxious—then lunged for a bottle anyway. The tug twisted wrong; bleach splashed across silk blouse and linen slacks. Elexis stripped right there, bra and panties flashing like white flags.
Texas watched the old hunger tighten low in her belly. “Why are you acting crazy?” she asked. Elexis admitted she’d been trying to shrink the gap between their worlds. Texas sighed, eyes lingering on lace. “We’re both married,” she whispered, voice already husky.
“Married doesn’t mean dead,” Elexis murmured, closing the distance. Their mouths met—wet, urgent—years collapsing in a single greedy slide of tongue. Texas dropped the rag; Elexis pushed her against the half-cleaned table. Fingers fumbled buttons, skirts rode hips, and two housewives found the same frantic rhythm they’d invented behind dorm doors long ago. They moved fast, came hard, and kept going until the bleach dried sticky on the tile and the afternoon light slipped into dusk.
