Seth Gamble just took Best Leading Actor. Angela White won for Best Actress. Bree Mills won screenwriting awards at both AVN and XBIZ. The film landed ten more nominations across cinematography, directing, drama, editing, group scenes, and every major feature category. Early morning light hits an empty lot. Daniel opens the trunk and points to a semi-automatic without a word. The husband slides money across the hood, takes the gun, and walks the block back to his own front door. The stranger in his living room freezes when he sees the barrel. Jennifer steps in behind him, sees her husband, and the scream rips out of her throat. Jennifer sits at the kitchen island, thumb on the rim of her cup. She promised Dr. Mercer she would come. She stands, purse already in hand, when a meter-reader knocks. She lets the man inside, then finds Daniel in the study staring at a dark monitor. She asks him to show the technician the meter. He nods once, never blinking. She drives away. Dr. Mercer hugs her at the threshold. She apologizes for the missed appointment, says the move is days away and Daniel is already suspicious. They review her safety plan; she cries, says she cannot leave yet. Texts stack on the table. She grabs her bag and runs. Daniel waits in the dark kitchen. He slams a coffee mug at her feet and demands names. Later she crouches in the hallway, typing one line to Lena: I am not strong enough. A week passes. He books the hotel room himself. She lies beneath him, body limp, waiting for the sound of his release. In the bathroom she whispers to the mirror that two more days is all she needs. Jennifer returns from work and Daniel takes the car keys out of her purse in the driveway. The neighbor’s windows stare. Inside, she calls Lena. They agree the final safe-house meeting is tomorrow. That night they fold clothes into a duffel. Jennifer sends Daniel a text; he answers “don’t wait up.” Lena pulls her into a kiss. Jennifer kisses back, letting herself be held, letting herself be wanted. She is almost asleep when the bedroom door opens at six in the morning. Daniel’s shirt is soaked dark red. He steps into the shower and Jennifer keeps her eyes closed, breathing the sound of water and the two days left before she can leave.
