One Last Time

Wendy and Mary have known each other for years. Every week Mary drives across town for Wendy’s hands and the conversations they fall into once the oil starts to move across skin. The days are routine until Ginger moves in. Three times a week Mary unlocks a door that already carries another woman’s scent, and silence does not greet her the way it used to. She admits it makes the big house feel smaller, easier to breathe in. Wendy catches the new light in her eyes. Later, when the last scheduled client of the day has left, Wendy locks the front door and walks back into the massage room wearing nothing but an open robe. Mary is still stretched out on the heated table. “I remember the nights you paid me in moans instead of cash,” Wendy says, crawling onto the vinyl beside her. She slips two fingers straight between Mary’s thighs, finds her wetter than memory promised, and draws a long, rolling circle over her clit. Mary pushes down on those fingers, gasps, knees rising as the old rhythm returns. Wendy keeps the pressure light, circling just enough to hold Mary at the edge without letting her tip over. The room is silent except for the sound of slick fingers sliding through folds that already cling. Wendy leans close, lips brushing Mary’s ear. “You’re not allowed to forget this when you let someone else sleep under your roof.” Mary answers with a sharp breath and a trembling thigh. Wendy’s thumb presses harder. Mary shudders, clenches, lets the first of many long, helpless sounds break loose across the heated vinyl.
