The Debate Team

Sofi Ryan and Emma Hix sit together preparing their debate points on marriage equality. Emma reads the bullet points while Sofi stares at the notes and repeats them under her breath. The list runs out. For a beat, the room goes quiet. Emma asks if she can pose a personal question. Sofi nods, already smiling. "Have you ever kissed a girl?" Sofi's cheeks flush. She grins anyway. Caught. Emma laughs, says hers happened years ago, just two friends practicing so they'd know what to do with boys later. No big deal. Sofi nods, then admits she's always wanted to try. It might give her an honest angle for the argument tomorrow. The air thickens. They lean in, start slow, mouths brushing once, twice. Emma pulls back first. "Softer than I remembered," she whispers. Sofi answers by tugging her closer. Buttons come undone. Shirts slide off shoulders. Bras hit the floor. Emma's mouth finds Sofi's nipple, tongue wet and steady, drawing small sounds from her throat. Hands wander lower. They stretch out, bodies tangled on the couch. Fingers trace, lips chase skin. Every new touch feeds the next until the coffee table is forgotten and the debate notes lie scattered, irrelevant, under the weight of two warm girls learning each other by touch.
