Bridgette B crosses the living room and drops beside Kenzie Reeves on the couch. Music blares from the girl's headphones, drowning every word, so Bridgette plucks them off and offers a tight, sarcastic hello. Kenzie jolts. She snaps what the hell does Bridgette want, shouting that she needs space, needs her room to herself. Bridgette tells her to settle down, which only makes Kenzie louder—how dare someone who isn’t even her real mother boss her around? Her words spill out in a rush: classes, identity, the crushing pressure of figuring it all out, each frustration louder than the last. She bolts upstairs. Bridgette follows and asks why the anger runs so hot. Cornered, Kenzie blurts that she’s gay and instantly looks sick with the confession. Bridgette meets her eyes and says she understands, remembers how in college she experimented herself and learned she could crave women as easily as men. She reassures Kenzie that it’s natural, then steps close, voice velvet-low, and asks if Kenzie wants her to prove it. Bridgette moves in to kiss her; Kenzie pushes back at first, demanding to know what’s happening. But Bridgette’s calm hand and coaxing mouth never falter. Slowly, awkwardly, then hungrily, Kenzie stops resisting. Her first kiss with a woman follows, breath catching, heart pounding, the relief and heat blending until she finally lets go and dives into the unfamiliar want she has never admitted until now.
